The autumn-winter season is when the days become shorter, and the temperature outside drops significantly. Increased indoor temperature, frosty air outside and insufficient ventilation contribute to excessive moisture accumulation in rooms. We then notice foggy windows and water condensation, which collects in window frames and on window sills. How can this be remedied?
Natural moisture absorber
Excessive moisture not only decreases living comfort but also leads to the development of mould and fungi. As a result, it can negatively impact the health of all household members. Therefore, it's worth acting swiftly and effectively. A good idea to tackle the issue is to use citrus peels.
Simply place lemon, tangerine, or orange peels in dishes or bags and lay them on window sills. The absorptive properties of the peels (especially the inner part) will help combat this unpleasant problem.
Fruit residues absorb excess moisture and add a pleasant aroma to the interior, making them an eco-friendly alternative to chemical air fresheners.
Barrier against moisture accumulation
Another proven method for removing moisture from windows is to use vinegar. Mix it with water (in a 1:1 ratio) and pour the mixture into a spray bottle. Simply spray the solution on windows, window frames, and other areas prone to steam, and then rub it in with a soft cloth.
Vinegar has disinfecting and antibacterial properties, which prevent the development of mould and fungi. After using this mixture, you will not only prevent moisture from settling for a long time but refresh and sanitise the cleaned surfaces.
However, remember to ventilate rooms regularly and maintain an appropriate indoor temperature. With a few simple steps, you can effectively fight excessive moisture and enjoy a comfortable environment throughout autumn and winter.
