Pretending to perish for the climate crisis

Climate activists from Extinction Rebellion Amsterdam encourage people on social media to accompany them during Monday's protest. On Instagram, they highlight that the ecological crisis isn't fiction nor a transient issue. They stress that time is dwindling, and immediate intervention is imperative.

"Every first Monday of the month in the Netherlands, an air raid siren sounds. We aim to utilize this monthly occurrence as a reminder that the climate and ecological crisis IS NOT a drill but a dire situation. Reducing CO2 emissions to zero and halting biodiversity loss is critical." This message was posted on the Instagram of the Dutch climate activists.

"The climate emergency action in Amsterdam will occur on Monday, 5th February. We are convening at 10:45 am (Greenwich Time) at the Spinoza monument near the gemeentehuis (Amstel 2). This peaceful, succinct action is open to all" - this is mentioned further in the activists' post.

"The action involves simulating death: at the sound of the alarm, we hit the ground and lie still as if deceased for a few minutes before rising again. A brief speech elucidating our actions will be delivered. It's advisable to bring something soft and warm to lay on and dress aptly for the weather," - the activists wrote.
