Russian Telegram channels report that the Chkalovsky airport near Moscow was attacked at night. Recordings from Shchyolkovo, a town located next to the airport, appeared on the network, where the intensive work of the Russian anti-aircraft defence was registered.

The base is located only about 19 miles to the northeast of Moscow. According to one of the channels, unidentified drones "were destroyed on the territory of the airbase."

The base had previously been the target of attacks by Ukrainian drones. A successful strike took place in September 2023.

Ukrainian attacks on Russian airbases

In recent days, the Ukrainians have intensified attacks on Russian airbases. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that the Russian military airport in Lipetsk was attacked. This base houses Russian Su-34, Su-35, and MiG-31 aircraft.

The attack destroyed, among other things, warehouses with guided aerial bombs and several other facilities on the airport grounds. Satellite images later confirmed the effects of the attack.
