Dishwasher pods: The secret to a sparkling clean oven
We often procrastinate when it comes to cleaning the oven, leaving us to battle dried-on grease at the last moment. However, a simple trick can make this task significantly easier, and there's no need for specialised products.
High temperatures cause grease and food residue to burn and stick to the oven's interior. This creates stubborn stains that not only mar the appliance's appearance but also decrease its efficiency and alter the taste of the dishes being prepared.
A dishwasher pod works wonders
There are two methods using a dishwasher pod to tackle oven grime. For the first method, you need a pod, water, a heat-resistant dish, and a cloth. Here are the instructions:
Simply fill a heat-resistant dish with water and drop in a dishwasher pod. Then, place it inside an oven preheated to about 180 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes. The steam from the hot solution will act on the stains, softening them and making them easier to remove. The stains will literally slide off the walls. You can wipe away the remnants with a damp cloth.
The second method uses a dishwasher pod and paper towels. How do you do it? Place the pod in a bowl and pour hot water over it. Once dissolved, use a sponge to spread the solution inside the oven.
Next, soak sheets of paper towel in the solution and "stick" them to all the walls for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, remove the paper and use a damp rag to clean away the residues. Your oven will appear as good as new!
Steam with citrus works equally well
For those who prefer more natural solutions, cleaning the oven with steam and a touch of citrus juice can be an excellent alternative. This method not only effectively removes stubborn stains but also leaves a pleasant aroma in the kitchen.
Begin by placing a heat-resistant dish filled with water and juice squeezed from half a lemon or orange in the oven. Then, set the temperature to about 200 degrees Celsius and leave the dish inside for about 30 minutes. After that, turn off the oven and let it cool down.
The steam will act on the stains, softening them and making them easier to remove. Once the appliance has cooled, you can wipe away the grease and grime with a damp cloth or paper towel. There is no simpler way.
