Democrats' search for scapegoats: Why Clooney is under fire

Kamala Harris lost the race for the White House to Donald Trump. Although the vote counting is still underway, the Democrats are searching for someone to blame for their candidate's defeat and have pointed fingers at George Clooney. The actor is facing substantial criticism.

When Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential race, the Democrats saw an ideal presidential candidate in Kamala Harris. Her battle against Donald Trump in the presidential election was intense, but in the final stretch, it became clear that the Republican candidate gained a significant lead.

While the Republicans are celebrating Trump's victory, the Democrats have started searching for who to blame for the loss. One person blamed was George Clooney, who in July 2024 wrote an op-ed for the "New York Times," in which he wrote about the necessity for Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential race.

Unfortunately for the actor, his words were not forgotten. Democrats posted numerous entries on social media, accusing Clooney of acting against their party. Journalist Joshua Hartley posted a screenshot of Clooney’s op-ed on X, adding ironically: "Thank you, George Clooney".

On the same platform, a group of political commentators was formed, named "altNOAA." One internet user wrote: "Someone bring me George Clooney...". Meanwhile, the "Daily Mail" quoted a statement from another Democrat, who directly blamed Clooney for Harris's loss. "It's all George Clooney’s fault" - the statement reads.

According to surveys from November 7, 2024, Donald Trump received 295 electoral votes to Kamala Harris’s 226. Victory required obtaining 270, so nothing indicates a change in circumstances, and the Republican candidate will be the 47th president of the USA.
