This element on the windshields will certainly intrigue you now because it is visible on every car, and only old cars do not have black dots. Is it a new trend in the automotive world? Placing these little dots on car windshields is not a joke or an accident but the most ordinary feature, which is worth knowing more about.

what are the black dots on the windshield?

The term feature might not mean anything to you, but it's an incredibly important part of every car. Without the black dots on the windshields and the mirrors, we wouldn't get far. This especially applies to those small elements on the rear-view mirrors to prevent the light from blinding the driver, making driving much harder. The dots on the mirrors divide the visible image into an aspherical and spherical area.

The first one expands the field of view to prevent blind spots, which are extremely dangerous. Many drivers undervalue this solution, but it's the best "sensor" one could use. On the other hand, the spherical area is the opposite, and mounted mirrors were mostly installed in older car models. Black dots also allow reading the month, depending on how many there are, and the year of glass production is a number that should leave no doubt. Then it’s easy to know if all the windows are original.

what do the black dots on the windshield mean?

The black dots on the windshield are created during glass production, and thanks to screen printing, it is guaranteed that it will be durable and resistant. All thanks to particles that are bonded with the glass surface for good and more or less visible depending on the glass model. The current assembly is primarily on glueing the glass with the frit, i.e., the black dots. Thanks to them, the whole process goes smoothly, and the adhesive holds strong for years. This is extremely important, as dynamically changing atmospheric factors could make it unstable, and the car's interior would heat up more than usual.
