The Israeli Armed Forces reported on Thursday the execution of a raid in southern Lebanon. As a result of Israel's actions, Mohammed Hamed Jabbar, a high-ranking commander associated with Hamas and other armed organisations operating in Lebanon, was killed. It was emphasised that Jabbar played a crucial role in organising attacks on northern areas of Israel.

Jabbar was a member of the Sunni group Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiyya, which operates in Lebanon. This group is affiliated with the Palestinian Hamas and the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, as confirmed by the organisation.

The Israeli military noted in its communication that the eliminated commander was a "key figure" in planning and executing Hamas attacks on northern Israel.

This area is dominated by Shia Hezbollah, which controls southern Lebanon. Since the outbreak of the conflict in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, there has been a regular exchange of fire at the Israeli-Lebanese border. Hezbollah conducts attacks aimed at supporting Hamas in its struggle, thereby engaging Israeli forces on the northern border.

Tense situation in the Middle East

This organisation declares that it will end its actions once a ceasefire is implemented in the Gaza Strip. In connection with this conflict, tens of thousands of civilians from the border areas of both countries have been evacuated. There are concerns that this conflict could escalate into a full-scale war.

Both Hezbollah and Hamas are organisations supported by Iran and are part of the anti-Israeli axis centred around that state. These two groups are part of a more significant regional conflict that has its roots in the long-standing tensions between Israel and the countries and organisations that oppose its policies.
