Chicken strips are a party classic that almost everyone eagerly reaches for. In my version, they come in five different flavours, ensuring everyone finds their favourite among the meaty bites. The meat is juicy and not fatty because the strips are baked in the oven.
The chicken strips I've prepared come in five delicious breadings made from crisps. Each has a different flavour, so the snack board is far from boring or clichéd.
Ingredients:
- 3 eggs,
- 1 cup of plain flour,
- 1/2 teaspoon of pepper,
- 1 teaspoon of salt,
- 14 fl oz of buttermilk,
- 20 chicken breast tenders,
Breading:
- 4 oz of crinkle-cut crisps - pepper,
- 4 oz of crinkle-cut crisps - kebab,
- 4 oz of crinkle-cut crisps - onion,
- 4 oz of crinkle-cut crisps - chilli,
- 4 oz of crinkle-cut crisps - cheese.
Method:
Step 1. Break the eggs into a bowl, add the flour, salt, pepper, and buttermilk, and mix everything to form a smooth, homogenous batter. Toss in the chicken breast tenders and mix to coat the meat well with the batter.
Step 2. Crush all the crisps and place them in separate bowls. It's easy to do this by putting the crisps in a resealable bag and crushing them with a rolling pin. Dip the chicken pieces into the breading so that they are well-coated.
Step 3. Place the chicken strips on a rack. Bake them in an oven preheated to 200°C (392°F) for 15 minutes. Transfer to a board, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve with your favourite dip. Enjoy!
