The world of numbers, puzzles, and mathematical equations has its own rules, which not all of us are familiar with, let alone remember from school. For most of us, studying in the "queen of sciences" felt like going against the grain, with very few of us capable of solving such intricate puzzles. Be sure to scan the numbers carefully and ponder how to unravel them. This way, you won't fall into the trap of mathematical pitfalls.

What makes this maths puzzle challenging?

Problems are an integral part of life, and they often manifest in maths, which refuses to budge from its rules. Lack of knowledge about these can often lead to errors, resulting in unnecessary stress and a lack of motivation for solving puzzles or brain teasers. As a result, the cycle continues, and we tend to prefer less demanding forms of entertainment for our brain which don't stimulate it as much. This outlook towards mathematical equations will certainly not help solve them, and we're just fooling ourselves. But can this be altered?

At first glance, nothing in our riddle could worry us, and in this assurance, we mislead ourselves. Many folks jump into their calculations, but this won't yield the correct result. Confidence in your mathematical knowledge helps, but ensure your answer before debating it with other misguided daredevils. Mathematical puzzles are not a place for tension, but tranquillity is our greatest ally.

How to unravel this puzzle without being fooled?

You're probably wondering how to navigate this task; in reality, it's simpler than you think. You don't need to be a genius, but basic knowledge of the rules can save you from frustration. Even primary school children know these mathematical rules. Do you recall what they were? Even if you don't, it doesn't mean you're lost in a mathematical maze without an exit. Remember, this puzzle has only one solution, so you can't interpret the equation as you please. Do you know where to begin?

Perhaps the order of operations rings a bell? It will prove to be highly beneficial now because we definitely won't commence our calculations with division. According to these rules, our first attempts should tackle the bracket and the addition within it. This approach simplifies our puzzle to: "140/7-6=?", where the upcoming steps are just child's play. Only now should you carry out the division, with the subtraction following it. The one and only correct outcome of this puzzle is 14! If you arrive at a different solution, revisit your calculations.
