Recently, there's been a lot of talk about Cora Schumacher, the wife of Ralf Schumacher, who made a high-profile coming out. In one of her interviews, she admitted that she "wasted the best years of her life." It turns out there are many more women in similar situations.
The Formula 1 driver admitted that he is homosexual. There would be nothing strange about it if it weren't for the fact that he had been married for 14 years. Cora Schumacher decided to comment on the whole situation. She did not hide her sorrow and disappointment
"Today I feel used during the marriage. I feel like I've wasted my best years. I ask myself many questions. Was he honest with me?" — she said in an interview with "Der Spiegel." Sharon Rieck found herself in a similar situation, learning that her husband was gay after 15 years of marriage.
She was married to a gay man. He hid the truth for years
Sharon Rieck met her husband when she was 37 years old. They quickly hit it off. She confessed that she felt like a "princess" around him. The couple got married and had two children. The bliss lasted for 14 years until she noticed her husband was acting differently than usual.
"I have to admit that a year and a half before that evening, I noticed some changes in his behaviour. He suddenly started taking great care of his body, his grooming, and was training intensely. We dieted together and lost a few kilograms" — she confessed.
She found out her husband was gay when she went to a pub with him and his friend.
"When they both felt unnoticed in the crowd, I realised that their affections were more than friendly gestures. And suddenly, I understood that they had been in an intimate relationship for some time" — we read.
She had never suspected her husband of being homosexual. He never gave any signs that he could be of a different orientation. When she told him she saw how he behaved with his friend, he admitted to the affair.
"I don't even know what's happening to me. Please, give me time," he said, assuring: "I love you and our family" — he said.
There are more women like her
The desperate woman wanted to save her family at all costs. Everything changed when she found out that her husband's lover was HIV-positive and had chronic hepatitis. She filed for divorce.
Shortly thereafter, she started a secret group for women in the same situation. She receives weekly messages from desperate wives who suspect their partners of having affairs with men.
"Most men deny everything at first, so it often takes years before their true orientation is revealed. They do this because they perhaps don't want to — or can't — admit it to themselves" — she added.
