Woody Harrelson is one of Hollywood's biggest stars, but not everyone knows about his past. He has legal issues, and his father is a hitman. His life is a movie script.

The story of Woody Harrelson's father resurfaced recently when Joe Rogan mentioned his name in his podcast. The American presenter, comedian, and former athlete is known for his extreme, right-wing views, and in his famous podcast (which has over 17 million subscribers on YouTube), he regularly presents new conspiracy theories. In a recent episode, he claimed that the actor Woody Harrelson's father could have been involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

woody harrelson's father was jailed for murder

Joe Rogan discussed various investigative findings related to the death of the former US president in the podcast. Let's just remember that Lee Harvey Oswald was accused of Kennedy's murder and was shot in jail two days after his arrest by Jack Ruby. Over the years, numerous controversies and conspiracy theories have surrounded the case. A specially appointed commission concluded that the assassin was Oswald. Still, there was probably another shooter, and it was also said that the president might have fallen victim to a conspiracy. This opened the door to various speculations for years.

Rogan stated on the podcast that he doesn't believe what's written in the books about this history. "There's other people like Woody Harrelson's father apparently was supposedly involved," the social media star said. "Woody Harrelson's father was a bad person, a bad guy, like an assassin—known murderer," he added.

The "Newsweek" editorial team asked the actor's managers for comment, but none was provided. Charles Harrelson's story intrigues for a reason. His son was just 11 years old when he heard on the local radio that his dad was accused of murder and was a hitman. Charles received his first contract in 1968 from a carpet salesman who wanted his rival dead. The case came to light, and Harrelson Senior was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was released after 5 years for good behaviour.

Not one, but two victims

Shortly after, Charles was accused of another murder - he was said to have killed a state judge. A drug dealer supposedly paid Harrelson £200,000 to murder Judge John Wood in 1979 (Greenwich Time). Charles shot him with a hunting rifle. The killer was caught, tried, and sentenced to two life terms.

In an interview with "The Guardian", Woody Harrelson said that since he turned 20, he has been in contact with his father and tried to get him out of prison. It is said he spent several million pounds on lawyers. In a conversation with "People", he admitted: "This might sound odd to say about a convicted felon, but my father is one of the most articulate, well-read, charming people I’ve ever known."
