Many people can't imagine a day without a cup of hot, freshly brewed coffee. The grounds often end up in the bin, but that's a mistake worth correcting. Save them for later and use them to clean the toilet. The bowl will look as good as new, and any residue and unpleasant odour will disappear. After your morning coffee, start collecting the grounds in a jar to later transform them into a natural, homemade, and, above all, effective cleaning agent.
Homemade toilet cleaning method
Instead of ending up in the bin, coffee grounds can become your ally in the quest for cleanliness. Mix them with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar, and you'll create a powerful cleaning mixture. Apply it to the entire surface of the toilet in the evening and leave it overnight. In the morning, simply flush and enjoy the gleaming ceramic.
It sounds at least unusual, but it definitely makes sense and works very well. Coffee contains natural acids that dissolve deposits, while bicarbonate of soda and vinegar additionally disinfect and neutralise unpleasant odours.
You need:
- 6 tablespoons of coffee grounds,
- 1 tablespoon of fresh, ground coffee,
- 2 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda,
- 1 tablespoon of vinegar.
Preparation method:
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl.
- Spread the resulting paste evenly over the toilet surface, reaching difficult areas.
- Leave it overnight.
- In the morning, scrub the toilet thoroughly with a brush and flush.
The toilet will be shiny and clean, and the unpleasant odour will be forgotten. You can adjust the proportions of the ingredients depending on the degree of dirt and the size of the area you need to clean.
What else can you use the coffee paste for?
The paste of coffee grounds, bicarbonate of soda, and vinegar can handle more than just the toilet. Placing a bowl of the mixture in the refrigerator will eliminate unpleasant aromas. It will also help clean the kitchen sink. You can adjust the proportions of the ingredients depending on the degree of dirt.
The grounds alone can also be used in many other situations. They can be an effective, natural way to deter slugs and can also be used to fertilise potted and garden plants. Coffee grounds also find great use in cosmetics.
Those with brown hair can use them to darken colours. Simply brew a few cups of strong coffee, cool it, and mix with conditioner, then apply to the hair. Grounds can be used as a natural body scrub, making the skin smoother and firmer.
