Cocaine in bananas in a German store. "It was a mistake"
The DPA agency reported that employees of two stores in Moenchengladbach discovered several packages in the fruit boxes and called the police. During the investigation, it was revealed that on the same day, banana boxes containing drugs were also found in other branches of the same network, including in Duisburg and Krefeld.
Police officers and a prosecutor from Moenchengladbach informed that the cocaine, whose estimated value on the black market is over 7 million euros, appeared in 11 branches of the discount grocery store in boxes from South America.
The drugs were hidden among the bananas. The investigation shows that the banana shipment arrived by sea at the port in Antwerp. From there, the goods containing drugs reached the discount store.
According to the investigators, the cocaine reached the central warehouse by mistake of the cartel, and from there, it was distributed to various locations.
