If you're looking for an idea for a quick, tasty, and healthy dinner that will delight the whole family, opt for chicken wraps. This dish, inspired by global cuisine, is not only easy to prepare but also allows for a myriad of flavour variations. What's more, homemade wraps with Caesar dressing are healthier and more aromatic than their popular fast-food counterparts.

Chicken wrap – a dish full of flavour and possibilities

Wraps are one of the most versatile ideas for a quick dinner. Their flexibility comes from being filled with practically anything—from roasted vegetables and various sauces to favourite meats. The chicken and Caesar dressing version resembles a classic salad enclosed in a soft tortilla.

The history of Caesar dressing, which gives this dish its unique character, dates back to the 1920s. Its creator was Cesare Cardini, an Italian chef who made this combination from leftover ingredients in his Mexican restaurant. This sauce, full of deep flavour, combined with juicy chicken and crispy lettuce, makes these wraps irresistibly delicious.

How to prepare the perfect chicken wraps?

Ingredients for 4 servings:

For the wraps:

  • 4 wheat or whole grain tortillas,
  • 300g of chicken breast,
  • 1 small head of romaine lettuce,
  • 50g of Parmesan cheese.

For the chicken marinade:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil,
  • 1 clove of garlic,
  • 1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika,
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano,
  • Salt and pepper to taste.

For the Caesar dressing:

  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise (or natural yoghurt for a lighter version),
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard,
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice,
  • 1 clove of garlic,
  • A pinch of pepper,
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese.

Step by step to the perfect wrap

  1. Prepare the marinade: Mix olive oil, garlic, herbs, and spices. Submerge the sliced chicken breasts in it and set aside for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Cook the chicken: Fry the chicken in a frying pan until tender and golden brown.
  3. Prepare the Caesar dressing: Mix all the dressing ingredients thoroughly.
  4. Assemble the wrap: Place the lettuce, chicken, Caesar dressing, and grated Parmesan on the tortilla. Roll it tightly.
  5. Serve: Serve the wraps immediately to keep them crispy and warm.

Add-ons and variations for chicken wraps

Chicken wraps with Caesar dressing can be enriched with additional ingredients that will give them an even more pronounced flavour. They go great with:

  • Slices of avocado,
  • Grilled peppers,
  • Cucumber,
  • Roasted sunflower seeds,
  • Red beans.

For those who enjoy spicier flavours, adding a bit of red chilli pepper to the marinade or a few drops of Tabasco sauce to the Caesar dressing is worth adding.
