Carys Douglas steps into spotlight with debut film, Spike Lee produces
Carys Douglas, daughter of Hollywood stars Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, is taking her first steps in the film industry. The 21-year-old rising star debuted in the production "F*ck That Guy," which has legendary director Spike Lee as the executive producer.
Although her career is just beginning, Carys has already appeared multiple times on red carpets. Recently, she accompanied her father and brother to the premiere of the documentary "America's Burning." Showbiz is deeply rooted in the Douglas family – her older brother Cameron is also an actor who starred with their father in the 2003 film "It Runs in the Family." Her other brother, Dylan, hosts a political talk show called "Young American with Dylan Douglas."
Carys already has a few film roles to her name. She has appeared in short films like "Shell" and worked as an assistant director on the film "August." In her latest film, "F*ck That Guy," Spike Lee serves as the executive producer, and the film's plot focuses on the adventure of a young girl trying to get the attention of an older friend.
On her Instagram, Carys shared behind-the-scenes photos from her latest project, commenting, "I am proud to have been part of this project! F*CK THAT GUY is headed to Los Angeles for @prooffilmfestival from 18-20 October!" (note: change to dates, 18-20 October).
Famous parents warned her
In an interview on "The Drew Barrymore Show" in 2021, Catherine Zeta-Jones revealed that both Carys and Dylan are determined to pursue acting. Their love of the craft of acting is so strong that even when Michael... their brains they are doing politics and history in school, but their passion is acting," Catherine said.
Carys is aware of her family's legacy. Her father, Michael Douglas, warned her she would always be considered a "daughter." Nonetheless, she and her siblings wish to continue their journey in acting.
The careers of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas
Michael Douglas is the son of legendary actor Kirk Douglas. He carved out his path in the film industry, gaining acclaim as the producer of the Oscar-winning film "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1975). His acting career blossomed with roles in hits like "Fatal Attraction" (1987) and "Wall Street" (1987), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor. The 90s were also busy for him – he delivered a memorable performance in the film "Falling Down" (1993).
Catherine Zeta-Jones found success in the United Kingdom and dreamed of a Hollywood career. Her dream came true when Steven Spielberg noticed her in the miniseries "Titanic" (1996) and recommended her for the role of Elena in "The Mask of Zorro" (1998). The film became an international hit and catapulted Zeta-Jones to the top of Hollywood.
