Carrot and orange slaw: A refreshing twist on a classic side
Even salad sceptics will enjoy this—carrot slaw with a fruity twist should become a staple in your dinner menu. Why? It's an incredibly simple yet flavourful solution that goes well with almost everything.
Sweet, crunchy, and juicy carrot slaw will enhance any dinner. But how can you prepare it so it doesn’t feel mundane? Instead of apple or pineapple, choose a different fruit that will elevate a regular slaw to a new level.
What to add to carrot slaw?
Carrot slaw is great, especially when using sweet and juicy carrots. We often combine it with apple or pineapple, which is a good idea, but sometimes it’s worth trying something new in the kitchen. My aunt loves combining carrots with oranges. It’s a perfect match.
Many people may have heard of this unusual combination. Still, perhaps not everyone knows that instead of mixing carrots with pieces of orange, adding freshly squeezed orange juice to the grated vegetable is better. That way, the carrot slaw will still have a noticeable orange flavour, and it’s more practical for those who may not enjoy eating potatoes and meat with visible chunks of orange.
