A TikTok user with an interest in dogs has chosen to alert other pet owners. They discovered that a certain type of toy is entirely unsuitable for these animals. Why is this the case? The influencer explained the reasoning behind this.

Choosing a toy for your dog? Avoid these coloured objects

The "dog expert" pointed out that when picking a toy for a dog, one should consider its colour. The influencer advises purchasing all items in blue. Why? The explanation is quite simple.

"Dogs do not perceive colours as we humans do," the woman explained.

The woman, who quickly gained viral fame with her video, told viewers that dogs see the colours green and red as various shades of grey. However, dogs can clearly recognise the colour blue - as well as yellow.

Soon after, comments started appearing under the video. Internet users expressed surprise at the woman's claims. According to many, this theory isn't reflective of reality at all.

Do dogs see colours differently? Experts from VCA say yes

The TikTok user's video is gaining traction online, and more specialists, including those from the veterinary organisation VCA, are weighing in on the subject. These researchers have confirmed that dogs perceive colours differently from the way humans do.

"Human eyes have three types of cones that can identify the combinations of red, blue and green. Dogs, however, only have two types of cones and can only distinguish the colours blue and yellow. This limited colour perception is referred to as dichromatic vision," quotes The Sun from the experts' statements.

That's why toys in these colours are most effective.
