Football is one of the most popular sports in the world. It is loved in every corner of our planet. There are, however, places where it is treated almost like a religion. These include the countries of South America. Ronaldo, Messi, Pele, Suarez, and Cavani are like gods to these people from the south, who somehow miraculously walk on the same earth.
Fans from South America experience every match as if it were their last. During matches, heart attacks or strokes often occur. Everyone is used to it, and quarrels or fights are not surprising. No one, however, expected that a weapon would be used after a match and that a player from one of the clubs would be the victim of the brawl. This is exactly what happened in Brazil after the conclusion of a club match.
Brazilian club player shot on the pitch
The Gendarmerie, responsible for safety during Brazilian league matches, decided they wanted to be discussed worldwide. After Centro Oeste club's away victory against Gremio Anapolis 2-1, two players exchanged words and shoved. The fans shouted, supporting their athletes. Suddenly, a uniformed officer entered the field, intending to calm the situation. What he decided to do shocked everyone present at the Jonas Duarte Stadium. He stood between the players and then shot one of them.
"A horrible, unbelievable and criminal act by someone who should value the safety and integrity of the people, who were there at the Jonas Duarte Stadium. July 10 is marked by a violent, dirty and horrible act against one of our players, which will never be forgotten. The GEA informs that it will take competent measures, so that the responsible person is punished and that justice is done, so that this CRIMINAL act does not go unpunished," - reads the statement from Gremio Anapolis.
The club informed the media that the player is not at risk of leg amputation. The Gendarmerie has decided to launch an investigation into the matter.
