BMW M5 gets a sleek carbon upgrade with an M Performance package
It has only been a short while since the new M5's market debut, and the Bavarians have already prepared an M Performance accessory package for the most demanding customers. What does it include?
The new BMW M5 undoubtedly stands out. However, there will certainly be those who want to stand out even more. This is precisely why the M Performance package was created: to allow you to enhance the look of the sports saloon (though there will also be an estate version).
The manufacturer primarily utilised the ever-stylish carbon fibre. This material created the front bumper lip, side skirts, and aggressive diffuser. It is also impossible not to notice the larger spoiler.
Additional stickers with "M Sport" markings complete the package—in case anyone still has doubts about which version they are looking at. It's a shame far less is happening inside, where, for example, the carbon fibre bucket seats available in the smaller M3 are missing.
Unfortunately, the M Performance package does not solve the M5's biggest problem, which is its high curb weight. The car weighs about 2,500 kg. Thanks to the carbon fibre roof, we saved 30 kg, and the ceramic brakes weigh 24 kg less than the standard ones. There is some difference, but you will likely feel it only in your wallet.
Those interested in more spectacular modifications and noticeably lower weight should wait for the extreme CS version.
