This is President Joe Biden’s first interview since he announced that he will not seek re-election.

US President Joe Biden warned that his Republican predecessor, Donald Trump, might not accept a possible defeat in the November elections, just as he did in 2020. "If Trump loses, I'm not confident at all," Biden said in an interview with CBS when asked if he believes in a peaceful power transfer. "He means what he says. We don't take him seriously. He means it. All the stuff about 'If we lose, there'll be a bloodbath, it'll have been a stolen [election]," Biden emphasised.

The president referred to Trump’s controversial statement during his campaign in March, in which he warned of "bloodshed" if he did not win the election. What exactly he meant remained unclear, as in his speech, he spoke about threats to the American automotive industry and tariffs, in reference to alleged Chinese plans to build automobiles in Mexico and then sell them in the USA.

The interview took place at the White House on Wednesday. It focused on Biden’s decision, his views on the situation in America, and many other topics, including his reflection on democracy in the United States.

The interview will be broadcast in full on CBS News' "Sunday Morning" on Sunday.
