- Russia’s missile strikes that today killed dozens of Ukrainian civilians and caused damage and casualties at Kyiv’s largest children’s hospital are a horrific reminder of Russia’s brutality - the President of the USA said.
Biden added that Washington and its NATO allies will announce new measures to strengthen Ukraine's air defence this week.
"Act of terror." Missiles hit a children's hospital in Kyiv
In Ukraine today, 37 people were killed, three of whom were children, and 170 were injured, including 13 children, as a result of Russia’s brutal missile strike. It is a huge disappointment and a devastating blow to peace efforts to see the leader of the world's largest democracy hug the world's most bloody criminal in Moscow on such a day - said Volodymyr Zelensky late Monday evening.
In addition to Kyiv, the Russians also attacked Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, and Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region.
In Kyiv, a missile hit the children's hospital, the largest clinic in the country - Ohmatdyt. Two people, including a doctor, were killed, and 10 were injured. Evacuation of patients was necessary.
Another medical facility was damaged in the capital - a health centre in the Dniprovsky district. There, seven people, including three children, were killed, and 18 were injured.
"Russian terrorists must be held accountable for this. Mere concern does not stop terror. Condolences are not a weapon. We need to shoot down Russian missiles. Russian combat aircraft must be destroyed where they are based. Strong steps must be taken to eliminate any security deficit," wrote President Volodymyr Zelensky on platform X.
