On Sunday, a pro-Palestinian protest marched through the streets of Berlin, accompanied by the slogan "Demonstration against genocide in Gaza." The protesters began their march from Kottbusser Tor Square and were expected to reach the Neukoelln district by around 19:00 GMT. The organisers anticipated about 1,000 demonstrators, but ultimately, as many as 3,500 people participated.

The demonstration was dissolved due to the riots. Authorities began informing attendees via loudspeakers that public safety was at risk. The most confrontational participants threw stones and bottles at the officers, with some even attempting to break through police lines. Several participants of the rally were arrested, as reported by the Berliner Zeitung portal.

On Sunday, a pro-Israeli demonstration also took place in the German capital under the slogan "Together against Hamas crimes against Israelis and Palestinians. For the release of hostages and the end of Hamas rule in the Gaza Strip."

Hamas launched an attack on Israel on 7 October 2023, sparking a political crisis in the Middle East. Therefore, on Sunday, vigils and prayers related to the anniversary of the attack were also planned in Berlin. A special ceremony is to take place in front of the Fraenkelufer Synagogue in the Kreuzberg district, among other locations.

Pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli demonstrations also took place on Saturday in Berlin. The Berliner Zeitung noted that the police considered Saturday's demonstrations "largely problem-free," although they gathered fewer people. Only 1,000 attendees were expected for the pro-Palestinian rally.
