The murder in Bavaria is another tragedy for Ukrainians in Germany. Recall that in February in Düsseldorf, a 17-year-old player of the Ukrainian youth basketball team, Volodymyr Yermakov, was killed.
DW reports that since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, in Germany "the number of people with Ukrainian citizenship has increased from 138,000 in January 2022 to 1.15 million in October 2023 and make up 1.4 percent of the population of Germany". In Bavaria alone, there are 168,000 Ukrainian citizens.
