Barcelona stunned by Las Palmas: Title race tightens

FC Barcelona ended November with an unexpected 1-2 loss to Las Palmas at their home stadium. Spanish media, including the daily "Sport," are searching for reasons behind the Catalan team's weaker performance, pointing out the exhaustion of key players, including Robert Lewandowski.

On Saturday, FC Barcelona was defeated by Las Palmas 1-2, much to the surprise of both fans and experts. The month began with a promising 3-1 victory over Espanyol in the derby, but the team subsequently encountered two losses and one draw.

As a result, Barcelona's lead in the La Liga table has shrunk to two points over Atletico Madrid and just one point over Real Madrid. However, the "Royal" team has played one fewer match and could potentially take the lead in the league.

Several factors are affecting Hansi Flick's team's performance decline. One issue is the lack of rotation caused by numerous injuries, which has limited the coach's options. Despite excellent performances, players like Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and the pair of central defenders have barely had a break. Barcelona lost its freshness and significantly reduced pressing intensity and alertness.

The media also highlights the goalkeeper lineup. Although Iñaki Peña replaced Marc-André ter Stegen, his performance did not dispel doubts about this position.

Opponents don't need to make unexpected shots to defeat him - notes the daily.

The team must rebuild its form and regain energy to stay at the top of the table. Barcelona faces more challenges, with the return of injured players and better squad rotation potentially being key to success.

FC Barcelona's next match is scheduled for Tuesday, December 3rd. At that time, the Pride of Catalonia will face fifth-place RCD Mallorca away. The match will start at 7:00 PM Greenwich Mean Time.
