Avenger expands lineup with new 4xe off‑road variant
Previously only available with front-wheel drive, Avenger now includes a 4xe variant. The new version is just hitting the showrooms. How much does it cost?
A pre-production version of the Avenger 4xe debuted at the beginning of 2024, but it has only now officially joined the lineup. Like most products from the Stellantis group, the four-wheel-drive variant is based on a 1.2-litre petrol engine with 136 horsepower. It is supported by two electric motors—one on each axle—with 28.5 horsepower each. Combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission, these allow for emission-free driving at low speeds.
4xe is, of course, the most off-road capable version of the Avenger. It features 21 centimetres of ground clearance (about 1 centimetre more than standard) and a considerable wading depth of 40 centimetres.
For a city SUV, the off-road angles are also quite impressive—an approach angle of 22 degrees, a departure angle of 35 degrees, and a break-over angle of 21 degrees. In critical situations, we will also appreciate the 22.7:1 reducer placed on the rear axle, capable of providing up to 1900 Nm of instantaneous torque on the rear wheels.
Customers interested in the 4xe variant must be prepared to spend at least £26,900 – that is the price for the Upland version. Meanwhile, the more luxurious North Face special edition costs £31,500.
