Aston Martin unveils Valiant: Retro-inspired beast with 740 HP
The British continue to develop a line of models inspired by retro style. First, the Valour debuted, and now the Valiant joins - sharper, more track-oriented, yet still road-legal.
The Valiant is essentially a reinforced and enhanced counterpart to the Valour. Stylistically, it draws inspiration from the 70s and 80s. Power-wise, however, it is decidedly modern. Beneath the long hood lies a twin-turbo V12, generating up to 730 HP.
Representatives of Aston Martin claim that Fernando Alonso—the driver for the Aston Martin F1 Racing team—encouraged them to create the Valiant. As you can see, the master's requests were heard.
The Valiant, apart from its powerful engine, also stands out due to its refined aerodynamics. The splitter, side skirts, and large spoiler, which form a cohesive whole with the fenders, are particularly impressive. The 53-cm magnesium wheels, hiding a set of efficient ceramic brakes, complete the look.
Although Aston does not detail the vehicle's weight, they assure that it is surprisingly light. This is primarily thanks to the extensive use of composites and titanium, which, combined with adaptive, adjustable suspension, is intended to ensure agility and speed in all conditions.
Speed will also be ensured primarily by the 5.2-litre V12 generating 740 HP—over 30 more than in the Valour model. To top it off, a 6-speed manual transmission transfers the power to the rear wheels.
Bucket seats with harness belts, a large, three-spoke steering wheel, and aluminium pedals will be helpful to tame and feel this beast. The metal gear shifter with a visible mechanism also looks excellent.
Aston Martin intends to create only 38 units of the Valiant. Each is expected to cost around 2 million pounds (£2.45 million).
