April's streaming highlights: From "Boat Story" to "A Gentleman in Moscow

First on the list is the six-episode series "Boat Story". This gripping tale follows two down-on-their-luck strangers, Janet (Daisy Haggard, "Parents") and Samuel (Paterson Joseph, "Wonka"), who stumble upon a boatload of cocaine in a wrecked boat. Seeing it as a stroke of fortune, they decide to sell the narcotics and split the profits. However, they soon find themselves pursued by the police, masked killers, and an urbane gangster known as "The Tailor" (Tchéky Karyo; series "Obsession", "Mary Magdalene").

The first two episodes of "Boat Story" will be available on SkyShowtime on Friday, April 5, with new episodes released each week.
Both good and bad news awaits sci-fi enthusiasts this April on SkyShowtime. The platform will release the newest and final season of "Star Trek: Discovery". In this upcoming season, Captain Burnham and her crew unearth a secret that kick-starts an extraordinary voyage across the galaxy in search of an ancient, hidden power. However, they are not alone in their quest; dangerous adversaries also seek the power and will stop at nothing to obtain it.
The fifth season of "Star Trek: Discovery" will make its way to SkyShowtime from Friday, April 5, with subsequent episodes released weekly. Seasons 1-3 will become available starting March 8, followed by season 4 on March 22.
Among the most anticipated projects on the platform is "A Gentleman in Moscow". Ewan McGregor stars as Count Alexander Rostov, a man who, after the Bolshevik revolution, finds himself on the losing side due to his aristocratic status and history. The Soviet court decides to spare his life but sentences him to live in a small attic room in the grand Metropol Hotel. Stepping outside means certain death.
As history tumultuously unfolds outside the hotel's walls, Rostov finds himself ensnared in his confines yet discovers a rich world of spiritual enlightenment. In his solitary existence, he comes to appreciate the essence of friendship, family, and love. The first three episodes will be available on SkyShowtime from Thursday, April 18, with new episodes added weekly.
Another highly discussed production making its debut in April on VOD is "Not Far from the Tree". The series, inspired by Liane Moriarty's New York Times bestseller (which also served as the foundation for "Big Little Lies"), delves into the lives of the seemingly impeccable Delaney family. Stan (Sam Neill) and Joy (Annette Bening), retired trainers who have just sold their renowned tennis school, are looking forward to enjoying their retirement. They are excited about spending more time with their four adult children (Alison Brie, Jake Lacy, Conor Merrigan-Turner, Essie Randles).
However, their peaceful life is interrupted when a hurt, young woman seeks refuge at their doorstep, reinvigorating a sense of thrill they thought they had lost. The sudden disappearance of Joy forces her children to reevaluate their parents' seemingly faultless marriage, especially as dark family secrets begin to emerge.
The series "Not Far from the Tree" is set to premiere on the service on Tuesday, April 23, with new episodes released weekly.
Additionally, next month SkyShowtime will continue several popular series, including "Mary&George" starring Julianne Moore and Nicholas Galitzine, and "Sexy Beast" featuring James McArdle ("Mare of Easttown", "Angels in America") and Emun Elliott ("The Platform", "The Gold").
