Admiral Tony Radakin, the commander of the British armed forces, stated in an interview with British media on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Allied Normandy landings that "Putin does not want a war with NATO. Putin does not want a nuclear war".

Admiral Radakin emphasized that despite the current international situation, which has become "a bit more dangerous," we are not close to the outbreak of World War III. He also warned against using "imprecise language" regarding the current international situation.

Unsuccessful invasion on Ukraine

Admiral Radakin also expressed his belief that Ukraine can repel Russian aggression. He pointed out similarities between the Allies' actions against Nazi Germany and the current efforts of Western countries to assist Ukraine in its fight against Russia's invasion. He indicated that the current war in Ukraine is not only a military conflict but also an economic, logistical, industrial, and political war aimed at restoring peace to the people of Ukraine.

Admiral Radakin also assessed that despite Russia's offensive in the Kharkiv region, the invasion of Ukraine remains unsuccessful. He noted that Russia is making some progress on the ground, but its control over Ukrainian territory has dropped from 66,000 square miles in March 2022 to the current 43,000 square miles.

Russia to lose half a million people

When asked if Ukraine would achieve victory, Radakin responded affirmatively, predicting that by the end of June, Russia would have lost 500,000 people - both killed and wounded. He pointed out that the war Putin envisioned lasting three days has already gone on for 800 days, which is difficult for Ukraine, but stressed the need to maintain support for the country.

Admiral Radakin also believes that Russia does not seek confrontation with NATO. He noted that NATO has an enormous numerical advantage over Russia. Referring to the situation in April, when the USA, the UK, and other allies supported Israel after Iran launched over 100 ballistic missiles, almost 200 drones, and dozens of cruise missiles at it, he assessed that potential enemies do not have such capabilities.

He stated that only the United States and its allies have such power, and the command and proficiency the US has achieved with its allies are higher than the potential enemies.
