Zelensky set for high-stakes NATO talks in Germany
Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he will meet with Ukraine Defence Contact Group members on Thursday. Talks with defense ministers and military commanders from NATO countries will occur in Ramstein, Germany. Kyiv aims to persuade partners to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.
"Tomorrow, I will participate in a meeting in the "Ramstein" format, with additional negotiations planned with partners at the level of defense ministers and military commanders," Zelensky informed on social media.
According to the President of Ukraine, enhancing defense against Russian air attacks is a key task. "This is realistic provided that partners fulfil the commitments we have already discussed" he emphasised.
What's next for aid to Ukraine? Much depends on Trump
The Ukraine Defence Contact Group, known as the Ramstein Group, was established on 26th April 2022 at the American airbase in Germany. It is an international cooperation platform that coordinates military aid for Ukraine. It includes over 50 countries, including Poland.
The decision on whether the Ramstein Group meetings will continue will be made by the administration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, who will be inaugurated on 20th January.
