Military expert Carlo Masala, in an interview with "Bild," mentioned that Zelensky did not make progress on two key demands of his plan. The portal reported that the Ukrainians have two main demands, which they also presented to the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz.
Was the European tour a failure?
One demand is to enable the use of Western weapons against strategic targets in Russia. For this, Zelensky needs more long-range Western weaponry, including Storm Shadow from the UK, Scalp EG from France, and, most importantly, Taurus from Germany. The second demand is the promise of a fast-track procedure for Ukraine's admission to NATO.
Carlo Masala, an expert on Ukraine, told "Bild" that "Zelensky has not made any progress on the two main demands of his victory plan."
"From the Ukrainian point of view, the European tour was a failure," he assessed.
Ramstein meeting cancelled. Biden held back by hurricane
The portal also reminded that U.S. President Joe Biden cancelled a support meeting scheduled for this weekend in Ramstein, Germany, due to Hurricane Milton, which struck the Florida coast on Friday at 20:00 GMT.
- An excuse - a Ukrainian insider told "Bild." - Biden simply does not want to comment on Russia's war against Ukraine during his election campaign - he added.
"Bild" also learned that the German Ministry of Defence does not believe that Ukraine will be able to conduct a "counter-offensive to liberate its own territory" soon. At the same time, the Bundeswehr will no longer supply Ukraine with "large equipment." According to the succinctly worded internal document accessed by "Bild," the transfer was "finalised."
