Zelensky and Netanyahu discuss us ties and Middle East peace
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, had a discussion with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, focusing on relations with the USA and the situation in the Middle East.
President Zelensky reported on the phone conversation with Prime Minister Netanyahu.
"We also discussed maintaining close contact with partners, particularly the United States and President Trump," the Ukrainian president conveyed after the conversation.
Zelensky also informed Netanyahu about his participation in the ceremonies in Poland, marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp. He extended condolences to the Israeli nation regarding the tragedy of the Holocaust.
Cooperation between Israel and Ukraine
During the conversation, Zelensky expressed satisfaction with the release of hostages between Israel and Hamas. He emphasised the importance of people returning home and reuniting with their families, expressing hope for the swift release of the remaining hostages. "It is crucial to ensure a reliable and lasting peace, so that people can live in safety and security," Zelensky stressed on Telegram.
The discussion also covered current issues in relations between Ukraine and Israel. Both leaders agreed to maintain close contact in the future.
Previously, the Israeli ambassador to Ukraine, Michael Brodsky, denied reports about the alleged transfer of Russian weaponry seized in Lebanon to the authorities in Kyiv. There was media speculation that Israel might send the intercepted arms to Ukraine, but Brodsky refuted these reports.
During operations in Lebanon and Syria, the Israeli army reportedly seized over 88,000 pieces of weaponry.
