Typically, when new controllers hit the market—such as the DualSense Edge—the focus is on increasing gaming comfort. However, not all gamers can take advantage of these popular solutions. Gamers with disabilities, of which there are over 450 million worldwide, often face challenges.

Microsoft introduced the Proteus controller, a device created for gamers with limited mobility. There are about 450 million such gamers worldwide, and this controller responds to their needs. The main feature of the Proteus is modularity, meaning each user can customise it to their individual needs. This provides greater comfort and allows more gamers to use Xbox consoles.

The Proteus controller's description uses "snap and play," emphasising ease of use and vast customisation possibilities. Pre-orders have already started, and the device is priced at approximately £240, although a 15% discount is currently available on the ByoWave website.

The industry has also been abuzz about the mysterious Xbox Sebile controller, which was supposed to be unveiled this month. Many were expecting this particular controller.

Sony also has a controller for gamers with disabilities

At the end of 2023, a new PlayStation Access controller was released. This device was also designed to make Sony consoles more straightforward for people with disabilities and, in some cases, even enable them to play.
