Windows 10 support ends in 2025: What you need to know
The end of support for Windows 10 in 2025 should concern the vast majority of computer users with "Windows." This is because Windows 10 remains the most popular operating system among PCs. Microsoft itself has reminded users about the upcoming end of support.

Microsoft has updated its support information page to include a new banner informing users about the end of support for Windows 10. The system will receive its last updates in October 2025, and from that moment, it will potentially become the weakest link in terms of security and resistance to hacker attacks.
Windows 10 can be upgraded for free to Windows 11, but not everyone wants to or cannot because their computer does not meet the minimum hardware requirements. In such situations, Microsoft recommends purchasing a new, compatible computer. However, other solutions are available, including Windows in the cloud, which is recommended for business users.
The end of support for Windows 10 does not only mean no new features (although theoretically, the system hasn't received any since the release of Windows 11) but primarily the end of security updates. This entails being cut off from the monthly Windows Update packages, in which Microsoft patches anywhere from a dozen to several dozen security vulnerabilities, depending on the month.
Before updating from Windows 10 to Windows 11 on a compatible computer, it is advisable to create a data backup. Although the update process is theoretically not invasive, risks can never be entirely ruled out in practice. Taking backups should be one of the basics, especially before undertaking such a necessary installation.
