According to U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on Tuesday, the United States will soon announce a new set of sanctions against Iran.

"In the coming days, the United States will impose new sanctions targeting Iran, including its missile and drone program as well as new sanctions against entities supporting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iran’s Defense Ministry. We anticipate that our allies and partners will soon be following with their own sanctions." U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated in a news release.

The sanctions will target economic entities affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian Ministry of Defense.

Comprehensive response by Biden

The release highlighted that following the Iranian air strike on Israel from Saturday night to Sunday morning, U.S. President Joe Biden, along with international partners and leaders from both political parties in Congress, is preparing a "comprehensive response".

Iran's attack on Israel

In response to the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, the capital of Syria, and the killing of three high-ranking Revolutionary Guard officers by Israeli forces on April 12th, Iran fired towards Israel 36 cruise missiles, about 110 ballistic missiles, and nearly 185 drones.

Israeli sources claim that 99 percent of these were intercepted and did not hit their intended targets.
