The M2 Bradley is one of the most sought-after machines on the front. Maksym Zhurin, deputy commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, recently confirmed This. He believes that armoured vehicles of this type are crucial on the front.
These words did not come from nowhere. Bradley has repeatedly shown that armed conflict saves lives. Evidence is readily available online, showcasing how resilient the armour of this American design is.
One case involved a Bradley being targeted by a Russian kamikaze drone. The vehicle from the USA was only slightly damaged, and the crew inside remained unharmed. In another instance, I saw a Bradley drive over a mine and could continue operations on the front. These instances are among the many that confirm the M2 Bradley as one of the best-armored vehicles in the world. The Americans have decided to enhance it further.
Bradley will be even tougher to destroy
The Defense Express portal reports that the M2A3E1 modification is the most protected version of the Bradley infantry fighting vehicle. The American Ground Combat Systems executive program office developed the upgrade. Engineers incorporated the Iron Fist active protection system into the vehicle. Additionally, the new Bradley features an enhanced gunner sight and an air conditioning system.
Implementing Iron Fist provides additional protection against various threats, including rocket-propelled grenades. It aims to minimize damage by reducing the fragmentation of incoming threats. This is achieved by detonating small explosive charges placed on the vehicle's hull when a threat is detected. The explosion creates a shock wave intended to minimize damage or completely deflect the projectile (or other ammunition) away from the protected vehicle—in this case, the Bradley.
As highlighted by the Defence Blog, the improved air conditioning system is designed to support soldiers operating in challenging conditions. "This highlights the army's dedication to ensuring the well-being of its personnel under difficult circumstances." In the M2 Bradley, the room is inside for up to 10 crew members; enhancing the air conditioning system is particularly beneficial for forces operating in hot climates.
