The air forces of South Korea and the United States organised a joint air exercise featuring the strategic bomber B-1B. As reported by the Ministry of Defence, these maneuvers aim to demonstrate strength in response to military threats from North Korea.

In the exercises, which were the first of their kind this year, South Korean F-35A and F-15K fighters, along with American F-16s, also participated.

"The training was conducted to demonstrate the U.S. deterrence capabilities against North Korean nuclear and missile threats and improve interoperability between South Korean and U.S. forces," according to the ministry's statement.

Joint maneuvers of the USA and South Korea

North Korea regularly condemns military exercises involving US forces. Following the trilateral exercises on 15 January, in which Japan's air forces also participated, Pyongyang warned that it might take "more intense" actions to "enforce its right to self-defence."

The joint maneuvers are a response to the growing threats from North Korea, which regularly conducts missile tests and advances its nuclear programme. Military cooperation between South Korea and the USA aims to counter these threats and ensure security in the region.
