Ukrainian special forces strike russian armoured vehicles on Tendrivska spit

August 6, 2024, special forces from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence unit destroyed Russian armoured vehicles, particularly MT-LB, the enemy's electronic warfare complex and Russian fortifications. This is not the end, as the Russians also suffered human losses.

Tendrivska Spit is a narrow island about 65 kilometres long and up to 2 kilometres wide. It is located in the northern part of the Black Sea, near Ukrainian Crimea.

It was there on August 6, 2024, that the special forces of the Artan operational unit and the Naval Centre of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine landed on the island and destroyed Russian armoured vehicles, particularly MT-LB, the enemy's electronic warfare complex and Russian fortifications.

Anton Gerashchenko, advisor to the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, also emphasises that the Russians suffered human losses.

Ukrainian military intelligence reported that the operation above was not the first successful entry of military intelligence units onto Tendrivska Spit.

Russians lose valuable equipment

The T-72 tanks, BMP-2, and MT-LB transports are among the most popular Russian machines in the conflict in Ukraine. However, as Kovalenko pointed out, this was the case at the beginning of the war.

Today, however, the once numerous vehicles have become rare. We are talking about the MT-LB, which has now nearly completely disappeared from the battlefield.

Analysts estimate that the destruction of over 1,180 MT-LB transports has been documented in photos or videos.

However, these are not the total losses that have affected the Russians. Kovalenko believes that this number should be multiplied by 2.5 – then one can get the real number of destroyed MT-LB. This means that the Russian Federation, according to calculations, has lost nearly 3,000 vehicles (exactly 2,950).
