Alexei Navalny, a political opponent of Vladimir Putin, died suddenly on February 16 at a prison colony in the far north of Russia. Prison authorities informed Navalny's family that he died of natural causes. However, they took over a week to return his body to his loved ones.

General Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR), commented on the death of the Russian opposition leader on Sunday.

"- I may disappoint you, but our intelligence reveals that (Navalny) specifically died from a blood clot. This is more or less confirmed. It is not an internet hoax, but - sadly - a natural death," Budanov answered to a journalist's query at the "Ukraine. The Year 2024" conference in Kiev.

Budanov: Putin's regime in Russia won't collapse on its own

At the "Ukraine. The Year 2024" forum, Kyrylo Budanov also evaluated that Vladimir Putin's regime "won't collapse on its own". "- That won't happen. Without external assistance, it is absolutely unattainable," the head of HUR declared.

According to Budanov, efforts should be directed toward transforming the Russian regime, and such endeavors are already in progress. Earlier on Sunday, the head of Ukrainian military intelligence shared on Telegram that "the opposition can expect new surprises".

"I would not recommend civilians to use the so-called Crimea Bridge," warned Budanov.
