During the night of 6th to 7th February 2025, an explosion occurred at military unit 52116 in Dolgoprudny, near Moscow. Two Valday radars were destroyed that were used for detecting and countering drones. Modern Valday radars
The Valday is the latest achievement of the Russian military industry. It is the first model in its class that has entered service in the Russian Federation army. The destroyed radars were crucial for the protection of the airspace over Moscow.
The military unit where the radars were destroyed was responsible for the air security of the Russian capital. This information was provided by the Polish Press Agency, citing a HUR statement. Reporting from Kyiv was Iryna Hirnyk.
