"The Russian state services site is down. The voting system has collapsed. HUR computer specialists have circumvented all security measures. This disruption will persist until the end of the voting period," relayed the source that Ukrinform refers to.
Moreover, the Ukrinform's source also notes that attacks are currently being launched against the websites of Russia's ruling party, United Russia.
United Russia party halts website operations
Earlier that day, the United Russia Party reported falling victim to a cyber-attack, leading to the widespread blocking of its websites.
Consequently, the party has chosen to deactivate some of its non-essential services to concentrate on fortifying their defenses against the attack, as reported by Reuters.
Saturday, the attack's day, marks the second day of the three-day presidential elections in Russia. In this election, Vladimir Putin is participating as an "independent candidate," albeit with backing from the United Russia party.
