According to the General Staff's announcement on their Telegram channel, Ukrainian missile and artillery units struck the command post of the Russian Armed Forces' Kursk grouping in the town of Rylsk, located in the Kursk region. The statement emphasized that this action is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle enemy command centres, aiming to disrupt their ability to coordinate military operations and manage logistics effectively.

The General Staff announced that the Ukrainian army would continue to inflict losses on the Russian forces by disrupting their command systems and weakening their offensive potential. These operations, they declared, will persist until the end of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Ukrainian troops entered the Kursk region on 6th August 2024. The objective of the offensive was to compel the Russians to shift some of their forces from Donbas. By the end of August, Kyiv controlled approximately 1,250 square kilometres of this region.

However, since September, Ukrainian forces have been losing ground due to a Russian army counteroffensive. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian army continues its efforts to inflict losses on the Russian forces and weaken their command system.
