Witnesses report about ten loud explosions accompanied by the characteristic sound of flying drones and a fire glow visible in the night sky.
As a result of the attack, a fire broke out near Marinovka, located about 19 kilometres from Kalach-on-Don. There is a military airport in that area. Russia probably used the facility to conduct attacks on Ukraine. It is about 300 kilometres from the border with the Luhansk region in Ukraine.
The governor of the Volgograd region, Andrey Bocharov, confirmed that hostile drones appeared over the region at night. According to him, most of them were destroyed by anti-missile defence. Despite recordings showing large fires, the remaining drones did not cause significant damage.
There is also no information about casualties at this time.

On Wednesday evening, Ukrainian drones also attacked the Savasleyka military airport in the Russian Nizhny Novgorod region.
According to reports, the attack destroyed a MIG-31 (variant K or I) and two IL-76s and damaged about five planes, likely MIG-31Ks.
The previous strike on the Savasleyka airport was carried out on 13 August; it destroyed a fuel and lubricants depot and damaged an MIG-31K/I aircraft.
