Ukraine under siege: Early morning attacks devastate Kyiv and Shostka
In the morning, air raid alerts sounded across Ukraine. The Russians attacked using drones, ballistic missiles, and rockets. They deployed MiG-31K aircraft carrying "Kinzhal" missiles and six Tu-22M3. Explosions were heard in Kyiv and other locations.
During the night from Monday to Tuesday, the Russians attacked Ukraine using kamikaze drones. By morning, the Russian air force joined the assault, including six Tu-22M3 aircraft carrying air-launched guided cruise missiles Kh-22. They also shelled Ukraine with short-range ballistic missiles - Iskander.
Before 5 AM Greenwich Mean Time, an alert was announced across Ukraine. This is a regular occurrence when the MiG-31K, equipped with "Kinzhal" missiles, takes off. These missiles can reach the farthest western areas of Ukraine.
Half an hour later, another MiG-31K was scrambled from the Savasleyka base in the Nizhniy Novgorod region.
Destruction in Kyiv and Shostka
Telegram channels reported sounds of explosions in Kyiv and Shostka in the Sumy region. The Kyiv authorities urged residents to remain in shelters and reported on the action of air defence systems.
It is already known that debris from one of the shot-down missiles fell in the left-bank part of Kyiv, in the Darnytskyi district. It damaged three residential buildings there. One person, a woman, was injured, according to the Kyiv administration.
The attack on Shostka in the Sumy region turned out to be more severe. There, drones and rockets destroyed 12 residential buildings, two educational facilities, a clinic, and several other structures.
Meanwhile, the Russian defence ministry boasted that it destroyed a "grouping of Ukrainian troops" in the Sumy region.
