A dangerous situation unfolded at Los Angeles International Airport when two aircraft nearly collided during takeoff. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has begun an investigation into the incident, which involved Delta Air Lines flight DL471 and a Key Lime Air charter plane carrying the Gonzaga basketball team.

Nerve-wracking moments

The incident occurred when the Delta aircraft initiated its takeoff procedure while the Key Lime Air charter plane was starting to move off the runway. An air traffic controller issued an urgent command to stop, averting a potential disaster at takeoff speeds of 240 to 290 kilometres per hour.

A video of the incident appeared online, showing the controller issuing urgent commands over the radio, instructing one of the planes to stop. The recording captures the controller shouting "stop, stop, stop." The Delta flight continued its journey to Atlanta without further issues.

Delta Air Lines is proceeding cautiously with regard to this matter. A spokesperson for the airline informed Fox News Digital that flight 471 followed standard procedures. While cooperating with aviation authorities, Delta has not yet received formal notice of the FAA investigation.
