Ukraine faces largest Russian cyberattack, key systems hit
Ukraine has become the victim of Russia's largest cyberattack to date, as announced by Ukrainian Minister of Justice Olga Stefanishyna. As a result of the attack carried out by Russian hackers, key systems of the Ministry of Justice were temporarily suspended.
Olga Stefanishyna reported that the cyberattack temporarily suspended the Unified Register and the State Register, which are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
It has been established that the attack was orchestrated by Russian hackers with the aim of disrupting the functioning of key state services.
"Currently, we are working with our team and specialists from other services to coordinate efforts to repel the cyberattack and restore the operation of the systems. It is known that Russians conducted the attack to disrupt critical state infrastructure," the minister stated.
Hackers attacked. Resolving the consequences will take two weeks
"We are keeping the situation under control and doing everything necessary to restore the functioning of all services as swiftly as possible," she added, stating that the estimated time to resolve the consequences of the attack is approximately two weeks.
A statement regarding this matter was also published online by the group of hackers who carried out the attack. They claim to have stolen and deleted over a billion rows of data, including data stored in backups in Poland.
