Salads can be more than just a regular snack; they can be quite a filling cold dish. This is the case here, where, apart from tuna and vegetables, pasta also finds its way into the bowl. This salad is great not only as a party appetiser but also as a delicious dinner for the whole family.

Tuna and pasta salad

When I tried it for the first time at a housewarming party at my neighbour's, I immediately asked for the recipe. I wasn’t alone in this; the salad bowl was quickly emptied. Since then, it's been a must-have when friends drop by for a meal. It’s a delightful change from the usual salads that often appear at parties, and the preparation is very straightforward.

When you don’t have time to prepare complicated dishes but want to treat guests to something tasty, turn to this recipe. Tuna Salad can be made in just a few minutes, without unnecessary mess. To lighten it up a bit, replace the mayonnaise with thick natural yoghurt. Choose your favourite type of pasta - penne, fusilli, or elbow pasta will work well.

Ingredients:

  • 200 grams of cooked pasta,
  • about 170 grams of tuna in vegetable oil,
  • a few cherry tomatoes,
  • half a can of corn,
  • 4 pickled cucumbers,
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped chives,
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise,
  • 1 teaspoon of spicy mustard,
  • salt and pepper to taste.

Preparation:

  1. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain it thoroughly and transfer it to a bowl.
  2. Cut the cherry tomatoes in half and dice the cucumbers.
  3. Add the tomatoes, cucumbers, chopped chives, and drained corn to the bowl with the pasta.
  4. Drain the tuna from the oil and add it to the salad.
  5. Add mayonnaise or natural yoghurt, mustard, and salt and pepper to taste.

You can additionally sprinkle the whole dish with roasted pumpkin or sunflower seeds. Enjoy your meal!
