Trevi Fountain shines anew with visitor limits imposed
Good news is coming from the capital of Italy. After a three-month renovation, the famous Trevi Fountain in Rome is once again impressing tourists. However, there is a catch. A limit has been decided on the number of people who can admire this Baroque monument at the same time.
Recently, social media has been abuzz with recordings showing what is happening in Rome. Tourists were not happy with the renovations being carried out in the city before the Jubilee Year 2025. Now the work is nearing its end. The renovation of the Trevi Fountain is officially behind us.
Trevi Fountain with limits
The barriers and scaffolding have disappeared, and the famous Roman monument is once again impressing in all its glory. The mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, participated in the reopening ceremony of the famous fountain.
During the event, the introduction of a visitor limit was announced. This will be in effect from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Greenwich Time, except on Mondays and Fridays. On these days, the restriction will start at 10:00 AM due to the need to collect the coins thrown by tourists. These funds are traditionally donated to the Caritas organisation.
Mayor Gualtieri stated that there are currently no plans to introduce an entrance fee, although he did not rule out this possibility in the future. He also added that the limit of 400 people will be subject to further evaluation depending on the situation.
At the entrance and exit near the fountain, security guards and officers responsible for safety will be on duty. Visitors can walk along the fountain, however, there is a ban on sitting on its restored edge, eating meals, drinking beverages, and smoking cigarettes.
An icon of Rome
The Trevi Fountain, one of the most recognisable symbols of Rome, attracts thousands of tourists every day. After the completed conservation work, one can once again admire its full splendour, which pleases both the residents and the guests of the capital of Italy.
