Tragedy on Simi: TV presenter Michael Mosley found dead
On the Greek island of Simi, the body of well-known British television presenter and doctor Michael Mosley has been found. Local authorities conveyed the tragic news on Sunday, 9 June. The journalist had been missing for several days. The exact circumstances of his death have not yet been determined.
Michael Mosley was on holiday on the island of Simi. He arrived in Greece with his wife and children. His family last saw him on Wednesday, 5 June, at around 11:30 GMT.
That day, he set off on foot from Agios Nikolaos beach and headed toward the hotel located in the center of the island. It was a solitary walk, and Mosley had to cover 1 to 2 miles. He should have completed this stretch within 1.5 hours. However, this did not happen.
At around 17:30, the journalist's concerned wife reported his disappearance. Intensive searches were launched, involving the police, fire brigade, and volunteers.
It turned out that Mosley was captured by surveillance cameras while strolling around Pedi, a town about 1 mile away, and then near the yacht club. After that, he disappeared without a trace.

Unfortunately, on Sunday, 9 June, the tragic news reached the media. First, the Greek police informed that a body, which could belong to the British journalist, had been found near one of the island's beaches. Later, local authorities confirmed that the body discovered was that of the Brit.
He was found in the area of Ayia Marina - informed the deputy mayor of the island, Nikitas Grillas, quoted by "The Guardian".
The exact circumstances of Mosley's death are not yet known. The Mayor of Simi, quoted by local media, emphasized that the place where the British presenter disappeared is "quite rocky." The temperature on the island on Wednesday was "unbearable and in such conditions, it is easy to faint" (thermometers showed over 95 °F).
According to a local police spokesman, whose words are quoted by Sky News, the body on the rocky coast was found by people on a private boat passing by. Meanwhile, "The Sun" claims that an umbrella, which the presenter had during his walk, was found near the body. It is visible in the surveillance footage.
Michael Mosley studied medicine but worked as a journalist and presenter for several decades. He hosted health and weight loss programs and was extremely popular in the UK. He also gained notoriety for creating the popular 5:2 and The Fast 800 diets.
