Tom Selleck is certainly known to fans of American productions from the 80s, especially those with crime storylines. At one time, even Polish viewers followed the exploits of his character – Thomas Magnum from the series about a private detective living in Hawaii.

The series was nominated for Emmy awards several times – Selleck took home the statue for best actor in 1985, confirming his star status. In fact, he was almost annually nominated for the Golden Globe, but he won the award only once (also in 1985). Since then, Selleck has been pigeonholed.
Tom Selleck after years
Although he appeared in many films and series, the actor once considered a viewers' favourite never outshone "Magnum". Worse, in 1993, he was nominated for the Golden Raspberry Awards. And twice. For the worst performance in the films "Christopher Columbus: The Discovery" and "Folks!". It was sad to watch.
Selleck landed roles in low-budget crime films or action flicks. He always appeared on screen with his distinctive black hair and moustache. In recent years, he earned primarily from the series "Blue Bloods". However, this year production was decided to end, which was quite a disappointment for the actor.
He's become the talk of the town again. Paparazzi started chasing the actor. The 79-year-old actor and Vietnam War veteran became the subject of tabloid press. Because in the new photos, he looks unrecognisable. It was noted that the actor likely underwent knee surgery recently. Below you can see the latest photos of Selleck.
In 2024, a biographical book by the actor titled "You Never Know" was released in the States. In it, he recalls how his show-business career started by accident. Someone noticed him when he appeared on the 60s dating show, "The Dating Game".
"A casting director said maybe I should come over to Fox, that they had an acting school there. You didn't earn much there, but there was a weekly payment, acting classes, voice projection, dance lessons. But the truth is, if I hadn't grown up in Los Angeles, none of this would have happened," he recalls.
"Becoming a good actor was my dream," he says. "I dedicated myself to acting well. I think I never had the vision of becoming a star. I never thought about this job that way," Selleck confessed, as many fans today hope his talent will be utilised in a worthy manner.
