Few people realise that the drawer in the washing machine is a spot that requires special attention when cleaning the bathroom. This is where detergent residues, dirt, and moisture usually accumulate. The result is mould formation and unpleasant odours that can permeate clothes during washing.

Mould is dangerous to our health. It can cause allergic symptoms such as rashes, sneezing, coughing, eye irritation, and even shortness of breath. Washing clothes in a mouldy washing machine is unhealthy and ineffective - they remain unfresh because of the unpleasant odour even after washing.

Cleaning the washing machine drawer is an often overlooked task, and that's a mistake. Regular maintenance of this part of the washing machine is crucial for its performance. A machine with a neglected drawer can cause technical problems and simply not clean clothes well. Clogged, dirty openings contribute to incorrect equipment operation. Regular cleaning of the drawer results in fresher clothes and a more thorough cleaning.

Most people clean the drawer with a toothbrush

People use warm water with a little vinegar in the most popular method for cleaning the drawer. They use a toothbrush and cotton swabs for cleaning, which delve into every corner and thoroughly remove dirt from nooks and crannies. This method has its advantages and disadvantages. Yes, the drawer will be clean, but to achieve the result, you have to put in a lot of effort, scrubbing the drawer for a long time. The entire process can take even several hours.

Thanks to this trick, you will forget about scrubbing

Cleaning doesn't have to be complicated and time-consuming. A great trick allows you to restore the shine of this part of the washing machine without unnecessary scrubbing and spending half a day cleaning. It doesn't require buying additional products; just use what you already have at home. You will need soft dishwashing sponges and vinegar.

What do you need to do? Place clean, unused sponges in the compartments of the drawer, and then pour vinegar over them. Don't be stingy with it; it's better to use more than less. Leave them in the compartments for at least half an hour. After this time, the dirt should become much easier to remove. In the next step, lightly wipe the surface with them; the dirt should come off easily. Finally, rinse everything under running water, and you're done.

After cleaning the drawer, it's also worth taking care of the inside of the appliance. To disinfect the inside of the washing machine, a good idea is to set a cycle (with a high temperature) and "run" a wash without clothes. For this, you can add 190 ml of vinegar or throw a dishwashing capsule into the drum.
